Every year, the RA Summer Exhibition never fails to disappoint. Showcasing the breadth and diverse range of contemporary art today, this is the one show not to miss in your Summer calendar!
Most exhibitions in London are free, unless you go to the larger institutes, and so an exhibition that I would have to fork money out for is a rarity. I have to choose wisely. But the annual Summer Exhibition at the RA is never regrettable, and they can happily take all my money.
Founded almost 250 years, it’s proposition still holds true today. The exhibition celebrates an extensive range of art practices, and crucially, is open to all artists, which in turn helps finance the training of budding young artists enrolled in the Royal Academy Schools.
Everything you’ll see at the Summer Exhibition represents the art being made today. Expect to find a panorama of art in all media, from painting, printmaking, film and photography to sculpture, architectural works and performance art.
The exhibition runs from 13th June – 20th August
